Frequently Asked Questions
How long will therapy take?
Psychodynamic therapy is a highly personalized journey, and the length of time can vary depending on your specific needs and goals. Some couples and individuals may benefit from short-term therapy lasting a few months, while others may find long-term therapy over a year or more to be more effective. The process is designed to move at a comfortable pace, allowing you to explore deeper insights and make lasting changes.
What if my partner is not ready to start therapy?
It’s not uncommon for one partner to be hesitant about starting therapy. If your partner isn’t ready, you might consider beginning individual therapy alone. This can provide valuable tools and perspectives that could benefit your relationship. Another option is to come for one session and then share your experience with your partner in hopes that they will join or at least come for one session on their own.
Do you take insurance?
I currently have coverage with Aetna, Cigna, Quest, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Are virtual sessions available
Yes, I am available for virtual sessions.
What happens if I need to cancel a session?
Ongoing therapy sessions occur at the same time each week. As you and I are making a commitment to the time and space, you will be charged for missed or cancelled sessions. I understand that life happens, and sometimes plans need to change. If you need to cancel a session, please notify me immediately. Wherever possible, I will try to offer a replacement session during the same week at no additional cost, but unfortunately, this might not always be possible. You will not be charged if I cancel a session or am away.
What about confidentiality?
All discussions in our sessions are confidential. Any discussions with you or notes I write are confidential and will not be disclosed to anyone else without your consent. The only exceptions to your confidentiality are if I am required to disclose information by a court of law, or in order to protect you or another person from significant harm, to which you will be made fully aware if appropriate.
